¡Hola mi familia y amigos!
Ahhh...I´m really on a mission, I´m really in Spain and I´m really learning Spanish! Vale le Pena! It´s great!!!
By the way....Happy Late Birthday Tiffany Brown!!!!! I hope you had a great day ;) I love you!
This week, in honor of my friend Lynette, who made a TBE List with me of things that were ´´The Best Ever´´ when we were on tours in Folk Dance....here is my TBE List-
1) Eating appointments...I seriously love the food here! We eat with members almost every day during medio dia and it´s so fun! The other day we were eating at David´s home (one of the members here) for His birthday! They always have such great food...if anything...I feel sick because they just keep filling our plates with more and more food! I was giving the Spiritual thought at the end of the dinner. I started out by telling them about something I was reading that morning. I said ´´This morning I was reading...´´ and one of the members who was eating with us there thought that I said ´´This morning I was dying...´´ Everyone laughed SO hard! I thought it was funny...but they thought it was SO funny. It made me laugh! It was great!
2) We were visiting a lady named Carmen. She was telling us about how her husband recently passed away and it was really hard for her. But, we connected with her alot during that visit and talked about how we can pray and counsel with the Lord through all of our struggles in this life. Before we left, she randomly whipped out her flamenco dancing outfit and showed us what she had recently learned at her dance class. It was really fun to watch her get all excited about her dancing. I love her!
3) Berta!!! We were finally able to meet with a women we met on the street about 3 weeks ago. She and her daughter, Analia, are from Bolivia. They are SO PREPARED to hear the Gospel!! We have been able to meet with her twice. She is the SWEETEST lady and is so excited to hear more! I love the Spirit in their home. They are wonderful!!! She´s so hard to meet with because she works everyday, and doesn´t have a husband helping her work and provide, so we can only really meet with them on Sunday nights. But, we are SO excited for her!!!!
4) I met an American named Jerry last week. You know that short Pixar movie, ´´Jerry´s game´´ where the guy plays chess with himself. This guy looks EXACTLY like him...he has no teeth and was SUPER spunky! I went up to him and started talking to him in Spanish. He looked at me and was like, ´´Are you American?´´ with this hilarious old man American accent! Man...he was a character! I hope we can meet with him sometime again. He cracked me up!
5) Magda!! She is a women in our ward who´s husband is partially deaf who is a less active member of the church. We´ve had two eating appointments with them so far. This last week when we were with them, I was having a hard time understanding what they were saying at the dinner table. I really wanted to get to know them though and to know how I could better help them in their life. I had a tender mercy moment and I was so grateful. Because Magda´s husband is deaf, she knows a little bit of sign language! Some how she got on the topic of sign language and we got into a conversation of sign language - she was able to teach me some of her South American signs and I was able to teach her some ASL. Even though I wasn´t able to connect with her in Spanish, I was able to connect with her through ASL and I could tell she was SO happy! She wants to learn more American Sign Language and it was a way for me to connect with her in that moment. I knew that Heavenly Father was aware of both of us in that moment, and knew that I had a desire to help...and I know that He blessed me with an opportunity to connect with her.
6) Consuelo - she is a lady that we have met on the street 3 times now. We have tried to have lessons with her, but haven´t been able to yet. She is SO funny! She has super long hair, and talks ALOT with her eyes! The other day we saw this lady walking around in circles with her phone high up in the air yelling at her phone, ´´Can you hear me? Where is service??´´ We realized it was totally Consuelo and just died laughing! Maybe you had to be there...but it cracked me up. I´m cracking up just writing about it right now! Haha!
7) I sang in the Ward Choir on Sunday! Haha! Wow...Spaniards crack me up! I love them! They sing with all their hearts ;) The Choir director totally reminded me of what I thought a typical Spaniard was like. You know in the movie, Ever After, when the Prince ends up not marrying the Spanish Princess and then the Spain King and Queen start arguing and yelling at eachother...that is exactly how this lady was! She was SO funny! I loved it! She was yelling at every one in the choir to sing every note correct, and when they wouldn´t sing it right she stopped them and gave them this huge lecture about how if you want to sing in the choir, then you can´t be tone deaf! It was hilarious and I loved it!
8) Jose Manuel - we gave our first church tour this last week! Heavenly Father truly has His hand stretched out to help us. We had called this man, Jose Manuel, several times and weren´t sure when we were going to meet with him. He was a reference from the Alcala Elders so we didn´t know what he looked like. He said that he would meet us at the church building sometime, but didn´t want to set an exact time with us...so we were thinking he wasn´t really interested. But, we randomly stopped by the Church Building one night to pick up something, and one of the Alcala Elders was there on an intercambio with Elder Morgan in our District. Jose Manuel walked in and he recognized Him and was able to introduce us to Him. We gave Jose a tour of the Church and then had a really great lesson with him. He has already changed his life so much and has SO much conviction that God has helped him change His life already, little by little. But, he made the comment that something has been missing in his life and he wants to know how to change that. We gave him a Book of Mormon and are going to be meeting with Him again this week hopefully! We are hopeful!
9) Roni - this guy was baptized on Saturday! He was an investigator of the other sisters here. It was a special, spiritual day! I´ll have to tell you more about it next time!
Ok....there are SO many other TBE´s, I will try to write more next time!!!!!! I love you all and I hope you have a great week!!! Hasta Luego!
